Happy New Year! A new year, a new blog theme and some changes to the structure and direction of A Creative Mess. Also, the Christmas Tree is already out of the house! I never leave it for long, but this year the desire to toss it out arose only days after celebrating Christmas. It’s possibly because I have an overwhelming urge to unclutter our home. We’ve lived here just over a year, and have some things double, and some things we just aren’t using. I’m a hoarder, paper is my weak spot: wallpaper, wrapping paper, and magazines. After years of not wanting to throw it out, I can’t wait for it all to be gone. We will be bringing anything reusable to the secondhand shops.
A few random photographs taken during the Christmas break.
So maybe you’re thinking, “Again? Another layout?”. Yes, and I’m not going to apologize about it as I have in the past. I’ve discovered it’s one of my biggest pleasures of blogging, which is why I’m going to be blogging about blogging. I won’t bother you with posts about writing, or rules of blogging, because for one; my writing is mediocre at best, and I don’t follow the rules. Rules like keeping a consistent appearance… ahem. I simply love testing out new themes, and graphics.
As I’m installing new themes, plugins, and other WordPress related products and tools, I will be blogging about them. Other content will still be available, I’ve just added a few new categories to the page. What you can expect is for example, with this theme, Maryanne & Co, from Georgia Lou Studios, I had to set up my MailChimp newsletter widgets. I made a screen capture video of how I did that, to share with you. I also had some trouble with the custom fields section for adding the shop the post widget and will be blogging about it soon, with an instructional video as well.
Here is a post I’ve written on adding your MailChimp newsletter subscribe list using Genesis eNews Extended.
In other news…
Over on EDBM, I personalize WordPress websites for events and weddings, but would also like to to the same for bloggers, and small businesses. I only ask for cost covering, because I am not wanting to start a business. It’s complicated, but has everything to do with my health. I like keeping things at a hobby level. So for the price of the licences & hosting I can install and set up your WordPress theme. This is of course with placeholder text, you’ll need to add your own texts and photo’s (I do use free stock photography for the placeholders, and will match them to your content).

If you’re following me on Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook, I’m sorry for spamming your feed with demo content. I forgot to turn of sharing for social media, and all of the imported demo content was shared. Slightly embarrassing :/
I’m curious how you’re doing. Is your tree still standing or have you also tossed it? New plans for the new year?
Thanks for stopping by, let me know what you think of the theme in the comments!
